I’ve been meaning to write this short post for a while. I’m absolutely delighted to announce that Dare the Monkey has over 1 million downloads on the Apple App Store!

In fact, at the time of writing that figure actually sits at one and a quarter million. Not bad for a game I built in my spare time. And while that figure is easily dwarfed by many better known indie games out there, I’m still pretty damn pleased with myself.

Having to juggle its development with my full time job and a fairly busy family life, it’s a wonder that I ever managed to get it finished at all. And believe me there were many times where I feared I wasn’t ever going to get the project over the finishing line. If it wasn’t for my brother lending a hand near the end of the project and my wife coming to the rescue with her graphic design skills the game might never have seen the light of day.

If you’re working on your own indie game and you’re struggling to see the light at the end of the tunnel hopefully this little post can give you the inspiration needed to see it to completion. It can be tough going but with enough determination you can achieve almost anything.

if you’re solo developer (or a two or three person team) then take a look at Dare the Monkey. Hopefully you can take some inspiration from it. And of course, good luck with your own projects. I know you can do it!
